TORONTO, ON – Monday, June 5, 2017 – Ferraro are excited to share their brand new video for their single “Shake It Off”. Along with a brand new video, the band are excited to hit the road this summer with several dates including three alongside Sam Roberts Band at Jackson Triggs, a slot at NXNE Portlands on June 23 and more! See below for full tour dates.
The single from their 2016 full-length Losing Sleep (Cadence Music) has been updated and remixed by Gus Van Go (Arkells, Hollerado, Wintersleep). The single is now available here.
Directed by Kat Webber, the video was filmed in their grandparent’s living room. “Shake It Off” takes on the 50’s lifestyle by showcasing the nuclear family and atomic bomb testing. The approach is deliberately cheesy and comical with many real artifacts and clips to give a more authentic feel to a modern twist. The video also features a cameo by The Strumbellas.
“When director Kat Webber heard us & saw our mannequin imagery, it triggered some distant memory of history class and learning about the atomic bomb testings in that era. The test were done on model homes with mannequins to gauge the damages. The more we researched the more interesting, bizarre and alluring the whole thing was. We wanted to play off the nuclear family, making it humorous and intentionally over the top cheesy. It’s hard to believe many of the clips and ideas really happened, there really was a Miss Atomic Bomb,” reflects the band on what inspired the theme for the video.
Ferraro are brothers Cosmo, Tally and Gianni. Though the Ferraro name may be new to many ears – their dynastic legacy is not. They are descendants of The Cameron House (which is still in the family’s hands) in Toronto. Surrounded by the storied history, and witness to countless legendary performers – it was almost unavoidable they would band together to do the same. Their music is 50’s inspired and yet it’s inherently modern. They clash, bang and grit it out, with a melodic tone that is reminiscent of The Beatles and The Strokes. Their 10-song debut record, Losing Sleep, encompasses all those aspects and sticks in your head – it’s catchy as hell.
