SHARES VIDEO FOR FIRST SINGLE ‘RUNNING INTO LOVE’
ANNOUNCES SUMMER TOUR DATES
“Knox’s latest single ‘Running Into Love’ provides a glimpse into the singer/songwriter’s upcoming record, bringing forth a sound that has a refreshing effortlessness to it. The track is fun, light, and best listened to on an August afternoon.” – Indie88
TORONTO, ON – April 10, 2017 – Toronto’s Taylor Knox has shared the first single and video for “Running Into Love” via Indie88 off his upcoming debut full-length LOVE out June 9 on Cadence Music.
In support of the album, Taylor will be touring this summer making stops in Waterloo, Hamilton, Montreal, a hometown show in Toronto on June 23, followed by an appearance at Ottawa Blues Fest on July 8. See below for a full list of tour dates. More to be announced soon.
The video for “Running Into Love” are projections of old family photographs Taylor recently dug up. Explaining the video Taylor says, “‘Running Into Love’ is one of the more nostalgic sounding songs on the record, so I wanted the video to signal some of those feelings. I came across my Grandfather’s old slides from the 70s and it became clear almost immediately that we had such a wealth of imagery to play with for the video. I reached out to my friend Layne Hinton, who is an amazing artist, to use one of her many projectors to view them. Layne and Sagan MacIsaac directed the video, drew on acetate and selected the slides while Layne filmed me playing and dancing in her art studio. The video came from a very playful, DIY spirit of friends collaborating and creating something together.”
Taylor Knox’s 2015 debut EP, Lines, marked the arrival of a rare breed of singer/songwriter, one whose instincts are naturally attuned to the power pop principles of crunchy guitars, smooth harmonies and tales of teenage heartache. On the upcoming LOVE, Knox worked alongside his old friend Afie Jurvanen (aka Bahamas) to produce a few tracks alongside co-producer Josh Korody and mixing team of Gus Can Go and Werner F. Jurvanen contributes some of his trademark guitar stylings as well, but as on the EP, Knox handles most of the instrumentation himself. The album also has good friend, Molly Rankin (of Alvvays), contributing background vocals on several tracks including on “Running Into Love”.
Knox has grown up since his debut EP, and channeled the wonder of this new phase of life into his first-and aptly titled-full-length album, LOVE. While so much of LOVE sounds effortless, it’s the direct result of the wealth of experience Knox gained over the past decade through playing with a host of Canada’s most acclaimed artists, including Owen Pallett, Rich Aucoin, Luke Doucet, Hayden, Jason Collett and Alvvays.
