STREAM DOLLHOUSE VIA
CBC MUSIC FIRST PLAY AHEAD OF ITS RELEASE ON OCTOBER 13
TOUR KICKS OFF TONIGHT IN NELSON, BC
Toronto, ON – October 6, 2017 – The Pack A.D. have shared a brand new video for their latest single “Dollhouse” via Billboard.
Directed by Matt Leaf, who reflects on the video on how it came to be, “I love working with The Pack A.D. They have cinematic brains and think of every song they write as a music video. When they came to me with the new ‘Dollhouse’ track, the only constraint was it needed to be a single take video. They really had a vision, but needed a concept to complete the idea. We sat around drinking coffees after postponing the meeting twice, and by the end of Maya’s jalapeño cheddar muffin we were all grinning ear to ear. The song is about climate change, and how we’re ruining the environment while pretending everything is fine. The video we created together captures the essence of ‘Dollhouse’ perfectly. We slowly turn up the volume on the subtleties until everything is chaos and it’s too late to turn back, just like what we (human beings) have done to the planet.”
The single comes off the band’s forthcoming album Dollhouse, which is now streaming exclusively on CBC Music’s First Play ahead of it’s release on October 13 via Cadence Music. Listen here.
Recorded under the smoke-drenched skies of Vancouver, B.C. at Raincity Recorders, during one of the provinces worst wildfire seasons ever, Dollhouse is a product of the gloom that surrounds them and the rest of the world in these politically turbulent times. It’s an album that equally explores the personal and political, with the concept of a dollhouse acting as “both a reminder of the closed ecosystem we all inhabit, the grander scale, and the miniscule confines of our individual minds, neither of which we can escape from,”as Becky Black explains. The anxiety of existing is a throughline in the lyrics on Dollhouse.
